Deep Sea Systems MAX Rover 2x4

MAX Rover 2x4: A Deep Submergence Work-Class ROV

Power and performance at affordable prices.

Rugged Open Frame Vehicle Design - The MAX Rover vehicle frame is constructed of high strength 6061-T6 tubular aluminum that is free flooding and protected from corrosion with readily available sacrificial zinc anodes. A sandblasted finish provides a good grip when handling on deck and makes attachment to the frame using Velcro straps easy and secure. The design is also modular, where the aft component can be removed for easy access to the electronics bottle, and the front lighting frame can be removed for adding custom tool packages. An optional payload skid can also be added for additional tool packages.

Camera and lighting system on the vehicle. TV Camera, Lighting and Scanning Sonar - The MAX Rover is equipped with a highly adaptive viewing and lighting system. It has a variable speed pan and tilt capable of handling over 75 lbs. of TV cameras and lighting payload. Each vehicle can support up to four video cameras on two independent video feeds capable of driving 8000 feet of RG-59 coax with over 5 NHz of bandwidth. The vehicle can also support up to 900 watts of lighting (example: 6 lights @ 150 watts each).

Sonar system on a vehicle. The MAX Rover is configured to support a wide variety of commonly available imaging / OAS sonar systems. Typically these imaging sonars have a maximum range of 5 to 200 meters and will produce a high resolution color acoustic image of targets with their range and bearing relative to the ROV's position.

Surface Controls. Surface Control Console and Hand Box - The MAX Rover has a fully computerized control system that can be readily upgraded with software enhancements and improvements that are under continual development. This allows the MAX Rover system to meet the needs of adaptability and growth while keeping in step with fast advancing computer control technology.

Joysitck console. The surface control consoles are packaged in ruggedized 19" rack-mount cases which can be moved on board the vessel of opportunity and set up for operations in 2 to 4 hours. The vehicle is controlled by a transportable joystick hand box that can be moved from the control console area to the deck to ease the launch and recovery of the ROV.

4 horizontal thrusters on vehicle. Advanced Propulsion and Control - Four horizontal thrusters provide over 380 lbs. of forward thrust, allowing the ROV to perform productive work in currents over 2.5 knots. For additional thruster information see our THL-404-8 products information. Vert-trans thrusters on vehicle

Two vert-trans thrusters, provide the MAX Rover with over 100 lbs. of dynamic lift and excellent lateral thrust. Automatic depth and optional auto altitude are controlled via the operator's Soft Console© and remote joystick handbox.

Rugged Reliable Construction - The MAX Rover has been designed and engineered from over 15 years of operational and manufacturing experience. We have built it to be rugged, reliable and easy to maintain. It is an open frame design allowing quick access to all major components for inspection and maintenance. The MAX Rover has also proved to be very reliable and has been successfully operated worldwide in a broad variety of applications.

Electronics bottle. Modular Maintenance and Repair - All major MAX Rover components are modular for quick replacement or repair of damage parts. An easy to access electronics bottle can be opened in just minutes allowing quick location of all chassis mounted components. All vehicle systems can be operated while on deck with the bottle open for easy trouble-shooting and repair.

Surface power unit. Surface High Voltage Power Unit - The Surface Power Unit is enclosed in a waterproof stainless steel IP-65 case which is mounted within a tubular frame for easy handling and service. Each unit is equipped with digital voltage, amperage and leakage displays installed in the case door that are viewed through a weather proof window. The unit requires 230 VAC 50/60 Hz single phase input power and draws 12 Kw typically. The unit supplies 750 or 1500 VAC output power to the ROV via the umbilical cable.

Surface power unit panels. The high voltage output is fully isolated from the mains and is equipped with a GFI (ground fault interrupt) to ensure safe operation and to protect personnel. All power units are built to the AODC codes with user lockout key and easy to read power controls and displays. Each unit is high pot tested @ 4500 V for 10 minutes. WARNING: DANGEROUS or LETHAL VOLTAGES PRESENT.

ROV on pickup truck Easy Common Transport - The MAX Rover is one of the most adaptable and easy to transport work vehicle systems available today. It can be moved by commonly available fork trucks and transported on 1-1/2 ton pickup trucks to remote locations. The system can be set up on the ship or vessel of opportunity.

The MAX Rover can be easily moved by fork truck. Remote Worldwide Access - The MAX Rover ROV system is designed for economic worldwide transport via common air freight using LD-11 roll-on/roll-off shipping pallets. This allows access to all major airports around the world and access by common local transport to remote locations.
